Sacred (Romantic) Music Sunday

Come to the House of the LordHappy Valentine’s Day! Since this Sacred Music Sunday post falls on Valentine’s Day, I thought it would be fun to post some romantic sacred music.  Yes, there is such a thing.  I immediately thought of a duet I heard at a fireside I attended when I was in college.  The song was called Neither the Man Without the Woman by Steven Kapp Perry.  The musical number was memorable to me not only because the song was lovely, but also because the two people who sang it at the fireside seemed to be trying their hardest to convey the message “We’re not really a couple,” with their body language. Not the best presentation, but if you avoided looking at the singers and just listened it was very pleasant. Unfortunately, I could not find any video footage of anyone singing the song but you can buy it as part of the album, Come to the House of the Lord.

So instead, I am posting I Won’t Give Up by Jason Mraz. While not overtly religious, it conveys spiritual principles of loyalty and commitment in a relationship and always makes me feel motivated to be a better person and spouse:

  1. BWAHAHAHA, I love the people singing about love who weren’t in love…you don’t want there to be any mistake about that in college!
