Exponent II Can Use Your Financial Support

By Lori LeVar Pierce, Exponent II President As you consider which non-profit organizations you will support on this Giving Tuesday, we hope you will consider a donation to Exponent II. Exponent II is run by volunteers. There are staff members for the magazine who receive nominal stipends for their professional services for the quarterly magazine, but everyone else in this organization volunteers their time. It has always been this way. While we keep our expenditures to a minimum, there are things that cost. Costs like magazine printing and retreat hosting are passed along as direct costs, but there are other costs...

Guest Post: One Mom, Two Coming-Out Stories , Part Three

Guest Post by Anonymoys. Anonymous is a wife and mom who lives in an area with a high percentage of LDS people. She enjoys cooking, crafting, and gardening. Find Part 1 and Part 2 here. When I first began to distance myself from the church, I was motivated in large part by anxiety over my oldest child. Guest Post: One Mom, Two Coming-Out Stories, Part Two

Guest Post by Anonymoys. Anonymous is a wife and mom who lives in an area with a high percentage of LDS people. She enjoys cooking, crafting, and gardening. Here are Part 1 and Part 3 September, 2021: It was a Thursday evening. My husband was taking a shower. Our oldest child was in their room doing homework (I hoped). And our youngest child had just finished brushing her teeth, and was cuddling with me on the couch. It was almost her bedtime. I asked if she wanted me to read for a few more minutes. What is Exponent II?

Exponent II provides Mormon feminist forums for women and gender minorities across the Mormon spectrum to share their diverse life experiences in an atmosphere of trust and acceptance. Through these exchanges, we strive to create a community to better understand and support each other.

Exponent II was founded in 1974 by a group of Mormon women in Cambridge, Massachusetts. These women were inspired by the original periodical, “The Woman’s Exponent,” to create a forum “posed on the dual platforms of Mormonism and Feminism.”

For 50+ years, Exponent II has shared women’s voices in its quarterly magazine, and members of the community have convened at an annual retreat. Our reach has expanded as technology has advanced: the blog, founded in January 2006, has reached millions. As we look to the future, we are focused on growth and building a more inclusive community.
