Guest Post: The effect of another turning their cheek

Guest Post by Alma. Alma is a software developer and living her dream of being a stay-at-home mom to the three remaining children she has in her central Utah home. Her other interests include exploring the great variety of life while learning more of the woman she is, writing, and music. As part of the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew chapter 5 (3 Nephi 12), Jesus gives several examples of showing meekness, rather than the spirit of vengeance, in the face of injustice. 38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth...

Visiting Teaching June 2015: Divine Attributes of Jesus Christ: Virtue

As soon as I saw the word “virtue”—I rolled my eyes. Thankfully, this isn’t about the idea of virtue as a sexual commodity. It is about the virtuous aspects and acts of Christ as a servant, healer and friend to us all. So whilst I normally like the General Authority quotes included, I did not find them as inspirational in this month's message. What is Exponent II?

Exponent II provides Mormon feminist forums for women and gender minorities across the Mormon spectrum to share their diverse life experiences in an atmosphere of trust and acceptance. Through these exchanges, we strive to create a community to better understand and support each other.

Exponent II was founded in 1974 by a group of Mormon women in Cambridge, Massachusetts. These women were inspired by the original periodical, “The Woman’s Exponent,” to create a forum “posed on the dual platforms of Mormonism and Feminism.”

For 50+ years, Exponent II has shared women’s voices in its quarterly magazine, and members of the community have convened at an annual retreat. Our reach has expanded as technology has advanced: the blog, founded in January 2006, has reached millions. As we look to the future, we are focused on growth and building a more inclusive community.
