Reminder: Summer 2017 Call for Submissions

“Nature helps us to see and understand God. To all His creations we owe an allegiance of service and a profound admiration. . . Love of nature is akin to the love of God; the two are inseparable.” — Joseph F. Smith

foggy treesOur Summer 2017 issue of Exponent II will be on the theme of nature, the earth, and environmentalism. How does your faith influence your feelings about conservation? Do you worship the feminine divine through the living world? If you consider yourself an environmentalist, how does that identity work with Mormon theology and culture? What worries you and/or brings you joy about our relationship to the environment – as a society? As a church? As an individual? Please tell us about your walks and your work, your interactions and connection with nature.

Submissions should be 700 – 2700 words and can be sent to exponentiihttps://exponentii.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/IMG_5173-scaled-1.jpg AT gmail DOT com. The deadline is April 1, 2017. We look forward to reading your work.

Our Comment Policy

  • No ads or plugs.
  • No four-letter words that wouldn’t be allowed on television.
  • No mudslinging: Stating disagreement is fine — even strong disagreement, but no personal attacks or name calling. No personal insults.
  • Try to stick with your personal experiences, ideas, and interpretations. This is not the place to question another’s personal righteousness, to call people to repentance, or to disrespectfully refute people’s personal religious beliefs.
  • No sockpuppetry. You may not post a variety of comments under different monikers.

Note: Comments that include hyperlinks will be held in the moderation queue for approval (to filter out obvious spam). Comments with email addresses may also be held in the moderation queue.
