God, Faith, Women & Church: A Restorative Weekend for Women in SLC

God, Faith, Women & Church: A Restorative Weekend for Women in SLCby Gina Colvin and Wendy H. Christian

“The omission of women from the defining developments of the faith leaves humanity at large, churches in general, and authority collectively with only half an understanding of who God is and how God functions on which to draw for understanding and inspiration. It blinds all of the world to the insights of half of the world and gives us the image of half a God.”

- Joan Chittister, Heart of Flesh:  Feminist Spirituality for Women and Men

In increasing numbers women of faith are waking up to discover that they are no longer living vibrant spiritual lives that give them meaning and joy. They are realizing that God has been patriarchy’s creation; faith is primarily about giving assent to patriarchy’s making; and church is a place that asks for submission to the patriarchy as a requirement for belonging. Awakening, though painful and chaotic, is not a sign that faith is impossible or pointless, rather it signals that there are new, powerful, and transformative ways of being spiritually present and confident.

Join Gina Colvin, Wendy Christian, and Sara Hughes-Zabawa April 7-9, 2017, at the University of Utah for a special women’s weekend of community exploration into
* Patriarchy and the Divine Feminine
* How to manage complex family and church systems with grace
* Why spirituality continues to matter—irrespective of church attendance or beliefs.
* And rejuvenate mind and body through guided meditation and restorative yoga.

This will be a vibrant, restorative women’s weekend about what it means to be alive in our own lives, consciously connected to our image of God, awoke to our potential as women of faith, and reconnected in mind and body.
