I love Shannon Hale’s work.
I’m trying to think of other LDS women YA writers… I’m almost sure I know one or two. Most of the LDS writers I know are men in fantasy–Brandon Sanderson, Dave Wolverton (writing as David Farland).
Hm. Oh, there’s Kristin Randle and Louise Plummer, but they’re not terribly well known nationally. Well, one of my authors with a first book coming out in 08 is LDS (I’m a YA and children’s book editor who also happens to be LDS). I’ll have to tell y’all about her when the book is out. :)
Stacy: You ever want to write us a guest post on the best current YA and children’s lit? I’d love love love to hear an editor’s perspective . . .
I’d be glad to… after next month. It’s kind of crazy right now. However, if any of you are into science fiction and fantasy (and even if you aren’t, because all are welcome), I’m going to be at BYU a week from tomorrow for Life, the Universe, and Everything, a writing and literature symposium at BYU. I’ll be on several panels (I’ve posted the schedule on my LJ) and will be giving one of the main addresses.
