Lunch with Exponent This Friday

Lunch with Exponent This Friday

by EmilyCC

Some of the Exponent bloggers (D’Arcy, G, and myself) and the president of Exponent II, Barbara Taylor, will be taking our lunch break from the Sunstone Symposium at the Squatters Pub and Brewery. We’d love for you to join us (if you think you might, leave a comment–the pub will let me make a reservation if we have 10 or more).

Friday, August 14th from 1:00 to 2:00 pm
at Squatters Pub and Brewery (2 blocks from the Sunstone Symposium)
147 West Broadway
Salt Lake City, UT

We’ll have info about the upcoming retreat in Boston and how to submit guest posts to the blog and to the paper.

Hope to see you at lunch (and/or at Sunstone)!

  1. I would love to join you, but will not be attending the symposium, since I live in another state.

Can you also post the info about the Boston retreat, and submitting posts and articles here?

    thanks!

  2. I’m trying to figure out if I can fly in on Friday morning and attend Sunstone for a day or so with my newborn. If I can find a way to make this work, I’ll be there!

  3. Wow, It will be so great to meet each of you! Caroline, I really really hope you can come! I am dying to spend some time with you!

  4. I did not have my computer with me, so I missed this announcement about lunch. Sorry to have missed out!

    Suzann

For years, blogger Heidi Toth has wrestled with questions she couldn't answer: How could she stay in the LDS Church? But how could she leave? Although the wrestle continues, she finally answered those questions.
What an arbitrary, cruel, crap game we’ve been asked to play! I don’t think our Heavenly Parents want for us helping children develop a sense of spiritual identity and belonging to be this kind of disheartening, crapshoot gamble. Surely they don’t opt for such poor odds themselves when it comes to their children reaching their potential and finding joy. Jesus’s healing is not just for the lucky, the prosperous, the comfortable, the conventional, or those with a natural affinity to believe, to fit in, to be heterosexual, and so on. He intends for it to reach the downtrodden, the sick, the questioning and doubtful, the outcast, and the broken. Our hierarchical, conformity and submission-based heaven has never aligned with the gospel Jesus taught.
