Just do it

exercising my rights
By Jana

Those lines are going to be long on Tuesday, but I hope that won’t deter any of you. Let’s aim for 100% voter turnout from The Exponent community this year!

I do not believe that women are better than men. We have not wrecked railroads, nor corrupted legislatures, nor done many unholy things that men have done; but then we must remember that we have not had the chance.

–Jane Addams, in a speech to the Chicago Political Equality League in 1897

  1. I did my Early Ballot by mail a few weeks ago.
It’s nice to have it done already.
Also, we’re having an Exponent AZ Election party, if you’re in Phoenix, let us know!

  2. I had an Election Prep Dinner two weeks ago. Bunch of friends, everyone researched one of the propositions or measures on the November ballot, and we talked about them,. Non-partisan, and we left Prop 8 alone. Foudn out that one of the newer sisters in my ward, who lives just down the street from me is getting her PhD in history with an emphasis on urban development. She had a broad perspective on why Measure R (mass transit in LA) is important. And then she went on to talk about how she admires the work of M. Davis at UCI. It was a serendipitous moment of connection with someone that I had not anticipated in the least.

  3. I didn’t do the early vote thing. There is something I relish about going to the polls on election day. I don’t care how long the lines, I will wait as long as I have to!
