Grateful

I know it’s Thanksgiving and many of you are eating and celebrating with family or friends (or both!), so I meant for this post to be short and sweet.

Happy Thanksgiving, Exponent readers and friends. I am grateful for you all.

November has been a rough month all around: The refugee crisis; terror attacks in Paris, Africa, and the Middle East; the new Church policy affecting LGBT members and their children; and many more, including any personal crises you all may be dealing with.

So yes, this month has been difficult (and I, for one, can’t wait for it to quickly end), but the optimistic Mormon in me is still grateful. I am grateful for sisterhood (both in and out of the Church), for wonderful friends, for feminism, and for the power to speak up and speak out. I am grateful for local church leaders who understand when I tell them I am struggling and accept what I’m going through. I am grateful what little means I have to help all those around me.

I’ve been thinking about everything that has been going on this month and I’ve come to the conclusion that there are only two things I can do: Have faith in the Lord and to do as much good as I can with what I have. And I am grateful for my belief and for the opportunity to do good.

I am also grateful for new beginnings. The new year is around the corner and I am praying that 2016 will be better. I’ll know I’ll do my part to make it so.

Again, I know there is lots to mourn in this world and we should continue to mourn and help make it better; but I also know there is still much more to be grateful for yet.

Love to you all.

  1. Love this. I’m also grateful for new beginnings, for the opportunity to start over every day (or hour…) and this beautiful Exponent community.
